The Village

"It takes a village to raise a child".-African Proverb

Do we ever outgrow this? I am middle age. When I was younger I thought I'd have it all together. (What does that even mean?)
This week. I am humbled by friendship. How do friends know when just the right time to reach out? I have chosen to become Minimalist this week for the next year. I have cancelled all hair appointments and lashes. Two separate friends have come to me, one that specializes in hair and the other who is incredible altruistic, that requested to fill in the gaps as I begin on my journey.
Today I broke up with a guy I've been dating for 3 months. Out of the blue my old CrossFit community reached out to me and asked that I join them. These people are my tribe. I love them at their core. After spending the morning on the couch watching chick flicks, it was wonderful to get out in the sun and spend time with friends that know you.
Shortly there after I went to church and met up with a previous co-worker. She and I are still single. Disenchanted with being middle aged and still single, when it was heavy on my heart to be a wife and  mother, I struggle with not being bitter. But a gluten-free frozen pizza, a bottle of wine later life seems more manageable.
This village of misfit CrossFitters, fellow PTs and girlfriends with a heart of gold- making sure I still get by with a little help from my friends.
